Remains of Filipina Student Abducted, Murdered in Ireland Arrive Home
31 May 2018 — The remains of Jastine Valdez, the 24-year-old Filipina student who was abducted and murdered in Ireland ten (10) days ago, have arrived in the Philippines.
Valdez’s remains were accompanied by her parents and Philippine Honorary Consul in Dublin Mark Congdon, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
They were met by officials from the DFA Office of Migrant Workers Affairs and the Clark International Airport Corporation upon arrival at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport at around 6:40 Wednesday evening.
Valdez’s was abducted while walking home near Dublin on 19 May by a local man who was shot dead by police the next day. Valdez’s body was found on 21 May.
Speaking on behalf of the Valdez family, Consul Congdon expressed their gratitude to the Philippine Government for their assistance in repatriating the remains of their only daughter home.
Valdez’s remains are now on their way to her hometown in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya, where she will be laid to rest. END
