Remains of OFW Fatally Mauled in Slovakia Now En Route to PH
18 June 2018 – The Slovak government plane carrying the remains of Filipino financial analyst Henry John Acorda is now enroute to Manila.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said the Airbus 319 aircraft from the Slovak Government Flying Service took off from Bratislava at around noon time and is expected to arrive in Manila around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
On board the aircraft are Ambassador to Vienna Ma. Cleofe Natividad and the mother, brother, and sister of Acorda and a representative from the Slovak Ministry of Interior.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano and officials from the DFA Office of Migrant Workers Affairs are expected to be at the airport for the arrival of Acorda’s remains.
The repatriation comes more than a week after hundreds of Slovaks poured into the streets of the capital to support calls for justice for the 36-year-old Filipino who died from injuries he sustained after he was badly beaten up by a local last month.
Acorda was attacked after he tried to protect a Filipina companion from harassment by the suspect who is now in jail for manslaughter charges. END
