Update No. 2 on Financial Assistance to Stranded OFWs

23 August 2018 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) expects more overseas workers to avail themselves of the P5,000.00 financial assistance it is extending to those affected by the recent runway accident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

On Wednesday, the DFA Office of Migrant Workers Affairs released the cash assistance to 178 stranded overseas workers who went to the DFA Home Office in Pasay and at NAIA Terminals 1, 2, and 3.

The DFA also expects other affected overseas workers who were earlier able to depart Manila to avail themselves of the cash assistance at the nearest Philippine Embassy or consulate general abroad.

According to Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola, the DFA will continue to release the financial assistance to affected overseas workers at the three airport terminals until Friday, 24 August and at the Home Office until Friday next week, 31 August 2018. END
