Dumaguete Tops as Retiree-Friendly City

DUMAGUETE 24 August 2018 – Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office in Dumaguete Officer-in-Charge Reynold D. Banda was invited by the City government as guest during the confirmation ceremony for Dumaguete as the best retirement friendly city for 2018 by the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA).

The PRA sent a team to the city and conferred the distinction to Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo for his initiatives and programs that turn the city as ideal place for retirees.

In recognizing Mayor Remollo, PRA General Manager Benvenido K. Chy said that Dumaguete ranks highly in all the international measures and criteria for the best retirement place, namely the United Nations Principles for Older Persons, International living Global Retirement Index, World Health Organization City Age Friendliness Index, United Nations Population Fund Global Age Watch Index and positive feedback from foreign retiree-members who chose to live or reside based on PRA Special Resident Retiree’s Visa Statistics for 2017.

The city is relatively safe place and security is visible almost anywhere and drivers are generally law abiding and courteous and serious accidents are rare. END
