DFA Inaugurates New Consular Office in Clarin, Misamis Occidental

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL 19 February 2019 – To serve the increasing demand for passport and the other consular services in Zamboanga and Northern Mindanao regions, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) inaugurated its newest Consular Office (CO) on 11 February 2019 at Clarin Town Center in Clarin, Misamis Occidental.
CO Clarin is the DFA’s 35th in the country and the eighth in Mindanao.
In his remarks, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Neil Frank R. Ferrer mentioned that the opening of the CO in Clarin would help the Department fulfill its commitment to bring its services closer to the public.
Assistant Secretary Ferrer added that not only would the new CO provide passport services but also assistance-to-nationals services, where the public can request assistance from the DFA for their distressed relatives abroad.
Misamis Occidental Second District Representative Henry S. Oaminal and Clarin Mayor David M. Navarro also attended the Consular Office inauguration.
In his remarks, Representative Oaminal expressed that the CO opening would significantly benefit the people of Misamis Occidental, who will no longer have to travel to Manila or Cagayan de Oro to get their passports.
CO Clarin is open from Monday to Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Appointments for passport services are how available from via passport.gov.ph/appointment. END
