ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials Meet in Bali

MANILA 26 February 2019 – Senior officials from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states and the Russian Federation met in Bali, Indonesia for the 16th ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials’ Meeting on 19-20 February 2019.
ASEAN and Russian senior officials reviewed the progress and future direction of ASEAN-Russia dialogue relations building on the results of the Third ASEAN-Russia Summit held last November 2018 in Singapore, that included the elevation of relations to a strategic partnership.
Discussions took up cooperation on a wide range of issues that included regional and global developments and challenges, counterterrorism, transnational crime, trade and investments, science and technology, education, transport connectivity, energy, agricultural cooperation, disaster management and emergency response, educational and cultural cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
Indonesia, Country Coordinator for ASEAN-Russia relations, and Russian Federation co-chaired the Meeting. END
