PH Celebrates Asia-Europe Meeting Day

MANILA 01 March 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs joins all Asian and European partners in celebrating Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) day.

To further enhance the country’s commitment as one of the founding partners of the ASEM, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Presidential Proclamation No. 74 on 05 October 2016, designating 01 March as ASEM Day.

Established in 1996, the ASEM is an informal dialogue process involving 53 partner countries from Asia and Europe, comprising 30 European and 21 Asian countries, the European Union and the ASEAN Secretariat.

The ASEM addresses political, economic, financial, social, cultural, and educational issues of common interest in a spirit of mutual respect and equal partnership. END
