Secretary Locsin Signs Resolution Creating National Committee to Promote ASEAN Connectivity

PASAY CITY 04 April 2019 — Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin signed the Philippine Council for Regional Cooperation (PCRC) Resolution No. 1-2019 entitled “Establishing the National Connectivity Coordinating Committee of the Philippines (NCCC-PH),” under the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Matters Technical Board for the Implementation of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC) 2025.

The NCCC-PH shall be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of priority projects and key actions of the MPAC 2025 in the Philippines.

 The MPAC 2025 has five strategic areas, namely sustainable infrastructure, digital innovation, seamless logistics, regulatory excellence, and people mobility to achieve a seamlessly and comprehensively connected and integrated Southeast Asia that will promote competitiveness, inclusiveness, and a greater sense of community. 

 The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) shall serve as the Chair and National Coordinator of the NCCC-PH, while the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) shall serve as the Vice Chair and Alternate National Coordinator.

 Key  agencies will serve as national focal points for each strategic area including NEDA, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Transportation, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Education, Department of Tourism and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
