DFA Consular Office in La Union Celebrates 2019 Women’s Month
The Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office (DFA CO) in La Union commenced the National Women’s Month Celebration on 01 March 2019, by posting a tarpaulin on Women’s Month with the theme, “We Make Change Work for Women,” at the CO’s main entrance. A video on Magna Carta for Women was played on top on the television monitors at the waiting area, processing and encoding sections, while DFA CO personnel wore purple attire every Friday of the month. DFA CO-La Union spearheaded a flag-raising cermony on 04 March 2019 as a kick-off activity for National Women’s Month. Passport applicants joined the singing of a music video of “Lupang Hinirang” with all-women cast that shows the successful contributions of women in different sectors of the society. It was followed by prayer of Gender and Development advocates prayer, “Prayer for Transformation.” (CO La Union Photo)

Casuga informed the participants on the overview and objectives of the National Women’s Month, Gender and Development Officer John Dick B. DFA Consular Office La Union joined the Regional Advocates for Gender and Equality (RAGE) in Region I with Fun Walk and zumba with the participation of the various government agencies and private entities in the Ilocos Region on 08 March 2019, which aims to promote RAGE’s advocacies and women empowerment. DFA Consular Office La Union’s Pasaporte Basketball Team participates in sports tournaments with various agencies and youth teams in San Fernando City’s first Ilocanos Norte Invitational Barracuda Basketball Tournament 2019 on 21 March 2019 with the aim to encourage friendship through sports and promotes health and wellness among the Juans and Juanas in the community. Ayco and Venus Frutas attended the Serbisyo para kay Juan and Juana and the Joint Regional Culmination Program of the National Women’s Month celebration, spearheaded by Regional Advocates for Gender and Equality (RAGE) I and the Association of Regional Executives (AREX) on 28 March 2019.
