DFA Signs Condolence Book For Late Vietnamese President

09 May 2019 — Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola signed the Book of Condolences for the late Vietnamese President Le Duc Anh at the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in Manila on 06 May 2019.

“The Government and people of the Republic of the Philippines join the Vietnamese people in mourning the passing of former President Le Duc Anh. His life of long and distinguished service as a soldier and statesman helped shape the emergence of today’s independent, united and thriving Vietnam. His term laid the foundations for our flourishing ties as bilateral partners and as fellow ASEAN members. By our commitment to this partnership, we honor his legacy and memory”, Undersecretary Arriola's message read.

Undersecretary Arriola was received by Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Ly Quoc Tuan.

The former President, who served from 1992 to 1997, passed away on 22 April 2019 in Hanoi at 99 years of age. He was laid to rest in Ho Chi Minh City on 03 May 2019. END
