PH Honorary Consul General in Aleppo Pays Courtesy Call

MANILA 06 June 2019 — On behalf of Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., Acting Secretary Ernesto C. Abella received Honorary Consul General of the Philippines in Aleppo Mohamed Wassim Nanaa on 30 May 2019, to congratulate him for recently being granted Philippine citizenship through Republic Act 11236 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on 08 March 2019.

Mr. Nanaa, a Syrian businessman and lawyer who has been Honorary Consul General since 2008, directly assisted in the repatriation of hundreds of Filipino nationals in Syria at the height of the Syrian conflict in 2011 and 2012.

Acting Secretary Abella thanked Mr. Nanaa for his service to the country and exhorted him to continue looking after the wellbeing of the remaining Filipinos under his jurisdiction. END
