 DFA Consular Office La Union Participates on 2nd Quarter Disaster Preparedness Cluster Meeting

LA UNION 05 July 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office (DFA CO) La Union participated in the 2nd Quarter Disaster Preparedness Cluster Meeting of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) for Region I’s vision of a disaster-resilient region held on 25 June 2019 at EM Royalle Hotel in San Juan, La Union in preparation for the upcoming 2nd Quarter Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Full Council Meeting.

CO La Union’s Information Officer and DRRM Focal Person Christian Kelvin C. Gonzales, , attended the meeting, and the gathering of inputs from CO Calasiao and CO San Nicolas for the consolidation of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the information of the RDRRMC.

The DILG’s Karen C. Casulla presented the DRRM 1st Quarter Accomplishments and Preparedness Plans for the rainy season of the three DFA COs in the region, which highlights continuous DRRM Information Education Campaign, Capacity Building and Preparedness for Emergency and Disaster Response.

As members of the Preparedness Cluster, the accomplishments and implementation plans of the agencies were also presented.

All member agencies approved the accomplishments and implementation plans of the cluster. The reports will be consolidated by the DILG for their presentation to the RDRRMC Full Council Meeting.

The Office of Civil Defense’s (OCD) Kristian Tabisaura of presented the Program Implementation Review for Preparedness Cluster. This includes the continuous Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) offered by OCD and continuous implementation of RDRRMC programs.

Also, OCD informed the body about the upcoming SEA Games 2019 and La Union will be the host of SEA Games for surfing events. END
