Secretary Locsin, Finance Secretary Dominguez Welcome French Minister of State Lemoyne

PASAY 08 July 2019 — Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III received French Minister of State Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne of the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs in a courtesy call on 28 June 2019 at the Department of Finance.
The officials discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Philippines and France in various fields such as defense, trade and investment, agriculture, science and technology and tourism.
Minister Lemoyne led the French business delegation to the eighth Philippines-France Joint Economic Committee (JEC) Meeting held on the same day in Manila.
During the JEC Meeting hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippines and France briefed each other on the recent economic developments in their respective countries, including economic reform initiatives, bilateral trade and investment policies, and other economic priorities such as infrastructure development. Both sides agreed to hold the next Meeting in France.
The JEC Meeting serves as a platform to discuss means to improve bilateral trade and investment relations and to share key issues and developments in the Philippines and France.
Minister Lemoyne is the first high-level French official to visit the Philippines following the visit of French President François Holland to Manila in February 2015
During his visit, Minister Lemoyne also met with representatives from the National Economic and Development Authority and the Department of Information and Communications Technology. END
