PH, Switzerland Successfully Hold 8th Political Consultations

12 July 2019 — The Philippines and Switzerland highlights its deepening bilateral relations spanning more than 60 years, as the two countries successfully concluded their eighth political consultations in Berne, Switzerland on 03 July 2019.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Policy Enrique A. Manalo, and Swiss State Secretary Pascale Baeriswyl and Swiss Assistant State Secretary for Asia and the Pacific Division Ambassador Raphael Nägeli led the Philippine and Swiss delegations, respectively.

The two sides discussed areas of mutual interest in peace and security, trade, agriculture, and other areas of cooperation, and agreed on action points to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.  They also exchanged views and engaged in frank and open discussions on regional and multilateral issues.

The Philippines thanked Switzerland for its role as the Chair of the Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) and its continuous support in the peace process.

Switzerland congratulated the Philippine Government for its ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law and the creation of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.  END
