DFA Consular Office La Union Joins the Celebration of the 41st National Disability Prevention, Rehabilitation Week
LA UNION 23 July 2019 – Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office (DFA CO) in La Union officers and staff, together with the passport applicants on 17 June 2019, celebrated the 41st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week with the recitation of the Panata ng Isang Tagapagtaguyod ng Karapatan at Pribilehiyo ng mga May Kapansanan led by Administrative Officer V John Dick B. Ayco.
A message by CO La Union’s Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Estellita V. Casuga was subsequently rendered.
OIC Casuga underscored the role of people and the government in taking active programs, projects and activities that address the needs and capabilities of the persons with disabilities thus, making them more productive, empowered and self-reliant in the society. She also mentioned the Sublime Paralytic, Apolinario Mabini, who fought for Philippine freedom during the Philippine Revolution and became one of the Philippine’s national heroes and the First Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, was not hindered by his disability.
This year’s National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week is from 17-23 July, and has the theme “Local na pamahalan, kabalikat sa pagtupad ng karapatan ng mga taong may kapansanan.” END
