 DFA Holds Retooling Seminar for Administrative Officers

MAKATI CITY 9 August 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through its Human Resources Management Office, conducted a Retooling Seminar for Administrative Officers (AO) on 07- 09 August 2019 at the Diamond Residences in Makati City.

Around 152 AOs from all Philippine Embassies, Consulates General and Missions around the world, as well as from Consular Offices around the country and the various DFA Offices joined the seminar, which was arranged for the first time as a global conference.

DFA Office of the Undersecretary for Administration Officer-in-Charge J. Eduardo Malaya welcomed the participants and highlighted AOs’ crucial role in the organization in his opening remarks.

“An AO is somebody who can instill efficiency, foster harmony, take responsibility and take initiative,”  OIC Malaya said, highlighting the four hallmarks of an AO.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. also graced the seminar, and in his remarks, acknowledged AOs’ contribution to the Department by calling them “the men and women who make things happen.”

The retooling seminar was designed to provide relevant information and the latest updates on planning, budgeting, procurement, staffing, the quality management system, competency-based human resource management, human resource information system, administrative discipline, and wellness programs, among others.
