On the Meeting Between Secretary Locsin and Libyan Health Minister Omar

21 August 2019 - Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. (first photo, left) received visiting Libyan Health Minister Ahmed Mohamed Omar (first photo, right) in a courtesy at the Department of Foreign Affairs on 20 August 2019. During the meeting, Secretary Locsin expressed appreciation for the kind hospitality extended by Libya to the more than 2,300 Filipinos working there and the steps being taken by the Libyan Government to address the concerns over remittances and salaries of Filipino nurses and other workers. The Foreign Affairs Secretary also promised to look into the request of the Libyan Government for the Philippines to allow the deployment of more nurses and other workers to Libya. Secretary Locsin also expressed his hope for peace and stability to return to Libya. Minister Omar, was accompanied by Libyan Embassy in Manila Chargé d’Affaires Ahmed Eddeb (second photo, leftmost) during the meeting. Minister Omar earlier met with officials of the Department of Labor and Employment and the Department of Health and was also scheduled to visit pharmaceutical companies during his official visit to Manila.
