DFA CO in La Union Participates in the Regional DRRMC Meeting

LA UNION 01 October 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office (DFA CO) in La Union, represented by Information Officer and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (DRRM) Focal Person Christian Kelvin C. Gonzales participated in the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) – I Third Quarter CY 2019 Full Council Meeting held on 27 September 2019 at the Hotel Ariana in Bauang.
The Office of Civil Defense presented the working draft of the Regional Disaster Response Plan (RDRP) and the resolution of the commitment of Region 1 DRRM responders and cascading of the revised guidelines on the declaration of state of calamity and informed the body of the Technical Group being formed for the upcoming SEA Games on November 2019 where San Juan, La Union was chosen to be the venue for surfing events
The Department of the Interior and Local Government discussed the functions of the Management of the Dead and Missing (MDM) cluster, the protocol of agencies and necessary actions to do in times of disaster preparation and response.
The Department of Health discussed the status of dengue cases in the region and cited that Ilocos Norte was the most affected province in the region. However, the past months have seen the cases noticeably declining. Further, DOH lectured about polio and how to prevent this sickness through vaccination and boosters. END
