66 Distressed Filipinos Arrive From Kuwait; Benefit from ATN Fund
24 October 2019 – Sixty-six distressed OFWs from Kuwait arrived last night in Manila. The group forms the 8th Batch of OFWs assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait through its Assisted Repatriation Program.
"Our determined efforts have brought home some 425 distressed Filipinos from Kuwait to date," DFA Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola said. “Our repatriation program is part of our mandate to protect Filipinos in distress abroad.”
The DFA's program facilitates the repatriation of OFWs with expired visas or absconding cases in Kuwait. It provides for airfare tickets from Kuwait to the final destination in the Philippines. A total amount of Php9.2 million have been spent for the repatriation of OFWs from Kuwait.
“We call on our Filipinos to take advantage of the help offered by the Duterte administration and come home," Usec. Arriola said.
