Secretary Locsin Receives Sri Lankan Ambassador-Designate

MANILA, 25 October 2019 — Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. received Ambassador-designate Shobini Gunasekera of Sri Lanka, in a courtesy call held at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on 25 October 2019.
The Secretary discussed with the Ambassador-designate priority areas of cooperation and sustaining the momentum generated by the State Visit of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena earlier this year. The Philippines and Sri Lanka have maintained cordial relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations on 11 January 1961.
The Secretary was joined by Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for Asian and Pacific Affairs Meynardo LB. Montealegre, DFA-Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs (ASPAC) Director for South and Central Asia Rona Beth G. Goce, and Principal Assistant Jorge Philippe A. Arjona.
