DFA Consular Office in La Union Participates in Meeting of Sub-Committee on Industry, Academe Partnership 2019

LA UNION 27 September 2019 — The DFA Consular Office in La Union, represented by Information Officer Christian Kelvin C. Gonzales, participated in the third regular meeting of the Sub-Committee on Industry and Academe Partnership (SCIAP) CY 2019 on 26 September at the Conference Hall of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University in San Fernando, La Union.
The meeting started with Mee Jay A. Domingo of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) presenting the proposed standard Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) template for partnerships. The chair then asked the academe representatives to present their current MOU which follows ISO standards to be discussed next meeting and for the finalization of the SCIAP template for endorsement to Regional Social and Development Committee 1 (RSDC-1).
The proposed Industry-Academe Forum was discussed by Joanne C. Rivera of Domingo Mariano of Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) for endorsement to Regional Development Council (RDC) -1 through RSDC-1.
A proposal for a “Learning Visit” to Batangas was discussed by Dr. Melody De Vera of Pangasinan State University (PSU) which she said aims to boost the partnerships of the academe and industries in the region.
Catherine Chan of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) discussed the CHED Priority Courses which focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Math (STEAM). After the discussion, Mr. Gonzales inquired if the scholarships being granted requires return of service like other scholarships offered by other agencies, in which Chan responded that no return of service is required and shall be rendered after the scholars graduate.
Frederick Gaerlan discussed JobsFit 2022: Labor Market Information Report highlighting the Fourth Industrial Revolution which was described as the exponential changes to the way we live, work and relate to one another due to the adoption of cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things and the Internet of Systems.
Vida Karna D. Bacani presented the Philippine and Regional Development Plan (P/RDP) 2017-2022: Chapter 9,10 and 14. The creation of SCIAP is an initiative of RDC to establish expanding economic opportunities in industry and services through Trabaho at Negosyo, Accelerating Human Capital Development and Vigorously Advancing Science Technology and Innovation.
