DFA Consular Office La Union Participates in DSWD Consultation

LA UNION 21 October 2019 – DFA Consular Office (CO) La Union’ Officer-In-Charge Estellita V. Casuga and Information Officer Christian Kelvin C. Gonzales participated in the Consultation Dialogue with Minors Travelling Abroad (MTA) conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office I (DSWD-FO I) on 08-09 October 2019 at the DSWD’s Panlipunan Hall, San Fernando City.
All DSWD Officers in various municipalities and cities in Region I were invited together with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and DFA CO La Union as agencies involved in the Omnibus Guidelines for MTA.
DSWD Regional Director Marcelo Nicomedes J. Castillo welcomed all participants, discussed on the reality of child trafficking cases and hoped to address, through said consultation, other issues and concerns in protecting the minors travelling abroad.
DSWD Central Office-Social Welfare Officer Cheryl P. Mainar and DSWD FO I –Head of Community-Based Services Clarivel C. Banzuela presented and discussed Administrative Order No. 12 Series of 2017, otherwise known as the Omnibus Guidelines for MTA.
Mainar along with DFA CO La Union Officer-In Charge Estellita V. Casuga, and PSA Supervising Officer Joseph E. Estoesta with DSWD’s Officers Paulina R. Cabunoc served as panel of facilitators in responding to queries and concerns of the participants on MTA, passport application and civil registration requirements and MTA. END
