DFA Conducts Refresher Seminar on Administrative Matters for Ambassadors, Consuls General

PASAY 12 October 2019 – The Office of the Undersecretary for Administration, in coordination with the Office of the Secretary (OSEC), the Office of the Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns (UCSCC), and administrative line offices of the Department of Foreign Affairs, conducted a refresher seminar on Administrative Matters for Ambassadors and Consuls Generals on 04 October 2019 at the DFA Carlos P. Garcia Conference Room.

Undersecretary for Administration J. Eduardo Malaya spearheaded the seminar, attended by 22 Ambassadors and Consuls Generals and eight Home Office-based officials.

Among the resource speakers were former Ambassador Rafael E. Seguis (ret.), Ambassador Linglingay F. Lacanlale, and Assistant Secretaries Antonio A. Morales, Medardo G. Macaraig, Myla Grace Ragenia C. Macahilig, Imelda M. Panolong, and Porfirio M. Mayo.

Participants of the seminar were briefed on the Department’s current administrative policies and practices. They were allowed to raise some administrative concerns generally encountered at Post and seek guidance from the Home Office.

At the end of the session, Undersecretary Malaya announced the publication of The Ambassador’s Handbook, a joint-effort by UA, UCSCC, OSEC, and administrative line offices.
