DFA Consluar Office La Union Participates in Contingency Planning Session and Tabletop Exercise for 30th SEA Games

LA UNION 28 November 2019 – In support of the President’s directive towards all government agencies and instrumentalities, including Government-Owned or Controlled Corporations and local governments, to extend full support to the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) Foundation, Inc. in the preparation, organization and holding of the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), the Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office in La Union, represented by its ATN Officer, Mr. Michael John C. Angeles, participated in the Contingency Planning Session and Tabletop Exercise for Task Group La Union on 31 October 2019 at Hotel Ariana in Paringao, Bauang, La Union.
The activity was headed by Task Group La Union Commander, Philippine National Police Police Regional Office 1’s Police Brigadier General Joel S. Orduña and was attended by heads and representatives of various government agencies and private institution. Among those in attendance were representatives from National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA)-1, Office of Civil Defense-Regional Office 1, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Field Office 1, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Health (DOH)-Region 1, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Marines, Hotel Ariana, Villas Buenavista and the LGU of San Juan, La Union, represented by San Juan Mayor Arturo Valdriz.
The contingency planning exercise was held to prepare all concerned government agencies, as La Union plays host to the surfing competition of the 30th SEA Games to be held in the Municipality of San Juan, where around 40 to 50 athletes representing Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines are expected to showcase their talent in the famous surfing destination of the North.
