DFA Consular Office in La Union Participates in NCIP Regional Action Planning Workshop

ILOCOS SUR 10 December 2019 –– With the aim to identify and implement the programs designed to promote peace and address the socio-economic needs of the different Indigenous Peoples in the identified priority areas in Region I, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) spearheaded a Regional Action Planning Workshop for its 12 Clusters on 06-07 December 2019 in Sapphire Events Center, Galimuyod, Ilocos Sur and Ban-ao Resort, Candon City, Ilocos Sur.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), which heads the International Engagement Cluster in Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC), was represented by the Consular Office’s designated RTF-ELCAC focal person and security officer Victor Mitchel M. Zambrano.
The highlights of the workshop were on the presentation of the different challenges or issues and concerns of the different Indigenous Peoples of Region I, possible interventions, deliverables and projected timelines and quick win projects, and the NTF-ELCAC’s 12 Cluster’s Implementation plans. Also, updates on the progress of the Regional Task Force’s undertakings were discussed on the gathering.
The RTF-ELCAC, headed by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the 12 clusters once again solicited the support of the member agencies in its mission to achieve peace and order. END
