DFA Welcomes Home This Year’s First Batch of Repatriates from Lebanon
25 January 2020 - A group of distressed Filipinos from Lebanon arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 this morning.
Comprised of 36 Filipinos, including one infant, the group of repatriates was welcomed by the DFA Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs.
The repatriates represented the first batch of Filipinos who availed the Voluntary Mass Repatriation Program of the Philippine Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon.
Lebanon is currently under Alert Level 2 (Restriction Phase) following the looming economic crisis in the country and the Iran-US tension affecting the Middle East region.
Before their departure from Lebanon, the adult repatriates each received financial assistance from the DFA, through the Philippine Embassy. END
