DFA Repatriates Filipino Heart Attack Patient in Libya
01 February 2020 - A female OFW nurse was repatriated from Tripoli, Libya after she suffered a major heart attack. She was assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Upon her arrival in Manila on 28 January 2020, she was admitted at the Makati Medical Center for medical evaluation prior to her onward travel to Zamboanga City.
The OFW was eventually air lifted to Zamboanga this morning on board a military plane provided by the Philippine Air Force accompanied by medical personnel from the Philippine Air Force and IOM-Philippines.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola remarked, “This medical repatriation was a success because of the close coordination among the DFA, the IOM, the Department of National Defense, and the Philippine Air Force. We are very thankful for having partners that share our passion and dedication to assist distressed OFWs abroad. We pray for her speedy recovery." END
