Inaugural Philippines-Belgium Bilateral Consultations Held in Brussels

PHOTO: The Philippines and Belgium convened their inaugural bilateral consultations at the Belgian Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs in Brussels on 29 January 2020.  Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Policy Enrique A. Manalo (right) and Belgian Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Peter Moors (left) led the Philippine and Belgian delegations, respectively.

Both sides discussed the signing of the revised Philippines-Belgium Joint Plan of Action and different areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and investments, trade missions, maritime affairs, anti-terrorism, tourism, and education, regional developments, and other matters of common interest.

Both sides also agreed on several action points, including cooperation against terrorism, convening of regular bilateral consultations, working on memoranda of understanding on education cooperation and tourism cooperation, and encouraging more visits of economic missions between the Philippines and Belgium.
