248 Filipino Seafarers Return from Miami

PASAY CITY 03 April 2020 - On its third day of repatriations this week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomed 248 crew members of MSC Divina who were repatriated from Miami, USA.

MSC Cruises, the manning agency of MSC Divina, chartered the flight that brought the repatriates from the said non-COVID-19 infected ship home. The plane landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at 6:00 a.m.

The Bureau of Quarantine performed the mandatory medical inspection before the seafarers were allowed to disembark and head to a quarantine facility. The Philippine National Police and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration were also present to provide assistance to the repatriates.

The 248 seafarers form the first batch of repatriates scheduled to arrive today. The DFA and its partner agencies commit to a whole-of-government approach in providing assistance to overseas Filipinos amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. END (Photos by DFA OUMWA)
