PASAY CITY 09 April 2020 – Topping off the Araw ng Kagitingan, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomed 47 seafarers of the Norwegian Jewel cruise ship from the USA.
19 hours after leaving the city of Los Angeles, the seafarers safely arrived in Manila where they are expected to undergo mandatory quarantine, as part of COVID-19 health measures, before returning to their respective hometowns.
Tonight’s flight, in coordination with the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles and the local manning agency CF Sharp, is the last of the three scheduled repatriations today that brought home a total of 789 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Americas and the Middle East.
As the repatriations crossed its 10th straight day, the DFA and partner agencies, including DOH-BOQ, DOLE-OWWA, and DOTr stand ready to assist our OFWs through this COVID-19 pandemic. END
