DFA Welcomes Home 265 Seafarers from UK, Germany, US
Pasay City 10 April 2020 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) continues to welcome home Filipino seafarers from various parts of the globe, this time a batch of 265 crewmen from the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States.
The group, which arrived in Manila late afternoon, is composed of 126 crew of Norwegian Jewel, 10 crew of MS Albatros, 33 crew of MV Viking Star and 96 crew of Carnival Cruises (Ecstacy, Horizon, Legend and Sunrise).
The DFA, along with the CF Sharp Crew Management Inc., BSM Crew Service Centre Philippines Inc., Magsaysay Maritime Corporation and United Philippine Lines Inc. , the local manning agencies of the said vessels, facilitated the said repatriation, in coordination with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Philippine Embassies in London, Berlin and Washington D.C. and the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles.
Representatives of OWWA, Department of Health, Bureau of Quarantine and Manila International Airport Authority, joined in welcoming the repatriates.
All 265 Filipinos underwent the appropriate medical protocols as required by the DOH and BOQ and will undergo the necessary quarantine as approved by DOH-BOQ. END
