Philippines Receives Assistance from the European Union

PASAY CITY 08 April 2020 – The European Union pledged for the reorientation of their assistance to the Philippine Government to address the urgent needs faced by the country due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Approximately 500,000 Euros (approximately PhP 27.68 million) will be diverted to non-government humanitarian agencies for the provision of food packs, cash assistance, hygiene kits, masks and other protective gears, temporary washing areas (all in unspecified quantities); and risk awareness-raising actions.

In addition, pending the signing of the Financing Agreement under the Bilateral Cooperation between the Philippines and the European Union, 15 to 20 million Euros (approximately PhP 830.66 million to 1.10 billion) will be reoriented to further support the Philippine Government’s response to COVID-19.
