DFA Brings Home Remains of Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Bernardita L. Catalla, Pays Tribute to Her Service to the Country
PASAY CITY 15 April 2020- The remains of the late Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Bernardita Catalla, who died due to complications arising from COVID-19, arrived this afternoon in Manila.
Officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), led by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., together with the next-of-kin of Ambassador Catalla, held a brief ceremony to pay tribute to the late Ambassador’s 27 years of dedicated service to the country. Ambassador Catalla not only touched the lives of many of our kababayan overseas but also inspired her colleagues in the Philippine Foreign Service
After the ceremony, Ambassador Catalla’s remains were immediately brought to a crematorium in Pasay City.
The following officials from the DFA also paid their last respects to the late Ambassador Catalla: Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Administration J. Eduardo Malaya, Assistant Secretary Antonio Morales, Assistant Secretary Leslie Baja, Assistant Secretary Porfirio Mayo, Jr., and Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez. END
