DFA Welcomes Home 102 OFWs from Côte d’Ivoire, USA

PASAY CITY 21 April 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) warmly welcomed today the arrival of 102 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), composed of five land-based workers of Toa Corporation from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and 97 crew members of MS Norwegian Joy, docked in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.

Said repatriates underwent the required health assessment by the Department of Health-Bureau of Quarantine upon disembarkation and shall be subjected to 14-day mandatory quarantine.

This repatriation was facilitated by the Philippine Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, and the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles, together with the DFA-Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs and the respective employers of the OFWs.

DFA stands by its commitment to serve all Filipinos abroad and to continue to bring home distressed overseas Filipinos in a whole-of-nation approach, consistently working with partners in government, the local manning agencies and the private sector in ensuring a safe and successful repatriation.
