LA UNION 30 June 2020 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office in La Union, led by Officer-in-Charge Grace M. Bañez, participated in a webinar on “Doing Business in Indonesia under Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance” on 24 June 2020 upon the invitation of the Industry Development Division-Ilocos Region and the Department of Trade and Industry-Regional Office-1.
DTI Trade Promotion Group (TPG) Undersecretary Abdulgani M. Macatoman graced the webinar through his message citing the importance of Halal-related trade industries with other countries.
The speakers and their topics during the webinar were Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Director Roberto “Bobby” C. Amores on “Building Bridges with Indonesia on Halal Opportunities”, DTI Export Marketing Bureau Director Senen M. Perlada on “Overview of the Philippine Halal Export Development and Promotion Program”, DTI Philippine accreditation Bureau Director James Empeño on “Halal Product Assurance and Certification Agency & Halal Accreditation in the Philippines”, and Halal Product Assurance and Certification Agency Professor Ir. Sukoso, MSC., PhD. on “Doing Business in Indonesia under Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance.”
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the webinar aimed to open business opportunities and to help Filipinos enter Indonesia's Halal market, the world’s most populous Muslim country, and a potential global Halal market hub, with its new Halal regulations. END
