ROK Government Turns Over Walk-through COVID-19 Test Booths, 600,000 Protective Masks, 10,000 Test Kits

PASAY CITY 27 JULY 2020—The Republic of Korea (ROK) further solidified its standing as one of the Philippines’ staunch supporters in arresting the further spread of COVID-19, with today’s turnover of additional in-kind assistance at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. received the donations from ROK Ambassador Han Dong-man, in the presence of Health Undersecretary Carolina Vidal Taino, Office of Civil Defense Deputy Administrator Assistant Secretary Casiano Monilla, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for Asian and Pacific Affairs Meynardo LB Montealegre, Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Director General Sanghoon Ko, and ZAFIRA Business Unit Head Samuel Lopez, the Philippine representative of the Korean company SD Biosensor, Inc.
This latest package included USD 500,000-worth of 600,000 pieces of KF94 protective masks, as well as seven “walk-through testing booths” being provided to DOH hospitals through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Also covered by the turnover rites were 1,000 face shields jointly donated by the Korean Embassy in partnership with a private Korean firm, and 10,000 sets of test kits good for up to 325,000 tests donated by SD Biosensor, Inc. through KOTRA, which arrived last week.
In April, the ROK Embassy turned over 700 Q-Sens COVID-19 diagnostic kits worth USD 500,000. This was quickly followed by additonal 17,664 COVID-19 diagnostic kits also worth USD 500,000, one set of PCR and DNA extraction equipment, and 300 sets of personal protective equipment (PPEs).
