DFA Consular Office in Cagayan de Oro Personnel Complete Economic Diplomacy Course Online

CAGAYAN DE ORO 10 August 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in Cagayan de Oro personnel participated in the Basic Course on Economic Diplomacy conducted by the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) from 03 August to 07 August 2020.

The five-day course was conducted by the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) in coordination with relevant agencies such as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Tourism (DOT), and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

The course aims to provide fundamental knowledge to the participants about the relationship between diplomacy and economic development; particularly, the role of the former in achieving the economic objectives of the country. Furthermore, it highlighted the multi-sectoral approach by the government on the conduct of development policies to attain an inclusive and sustainable economic growth. 

“The course was informative to us as it introduced the interrelated processes and procedures involved in the economic diplomacy work of the DFA. Furthermore, the complexities of the topics were delivered in a straightforward and orderly manner making it easier for the participants to follow the lessons,” Hannah Minfreda Tan said, one of the staff who completed the course.

“Thanks to the FSI for facilitating a very interesting online lecture. I am looking forward to more opportunities like this in the future,” Ms. Tan added.

A total of three personnel from the Consular Office attended and successfully completed the 20-hour course. END
