DFA Consular Office in La Union Participates in 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2020

LA UNION 16 September 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in La Union participated in the third quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2020 via zoom and Facebook live on 10 September 2020.
Prior to the NSED activity, the Consular Office’s personnel, security guards, and passport applicants also watched the program regarding earthquake preparedness amid the COVID-19 pandemic, conducted by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).
The online ceremonial pressing of the button at 2:00 PM. signaled the “duck, cover, and hold” procedure, which was executed by all participants of the Consular Office. Usual consular operations resumed after the short exercise.
Furthermore, the Consular Office’s personnel also participated in the Earthquake Preparedness Webinar spearheaded by NDRRMC through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on 08 September 2020. Various government agencies in the region joined the said webinar. END
