RIYADH 21 June 2021 — The Philippine Delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is ready to talk on labor reform initiatives as they arrived in the country on 19 June 2021.
The delegation, headed by Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Chief of Presidential Protocol Robert Borje who is also the Special Envoy to Saudi Arabia, is joined by Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola and Assistant Secretary Enrico Fos. Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Jusan Vincent Arcena represented PCOO.
“As we conveyed the well wishes of our President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to all our kababayan here in the Kingdom, we also reiterated his enduring commitment to safeguard their welfare overseas”, emphasized Undersecretary Arriola during the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Town Hall hosted by the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.
“The OFW community leaders relayed their concerns amid the prevailing pandemic. They also expressed their wishes of support from our government. And this is exactly why we are here, to show that the Philippine government is behind them,” added Assistant Secretary Fos.
The delegation is set to hold discussions with their counterparts in an effort to further highlight the advances in the labor reform initiatives as well as strengthen the relations between the two countries. The week-long visit is also expected to bring home more Filipino repatriates from the region. END
