PASAY CITY,  13 December 2021 — The Department of Foreign Affairs - Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs (OUMWA) welcomed the arrival of around 150 Filipinos at the NAIA Terminal 1 on 11 December 2021.

The repatriated Filipinos arrived via Smartlynx Estonia flight MYX 8480, an OSM Maritime Group-chartered flight which flew from Amsterdam, Netherlands. The passengers are mostly seafarers.

“The arrival of this flight is a first step in bringing home our stranded kababayan in Europe. We give thanks to our men and women both at our embassies abroad and at home for working round the clock and making sure that the much needed certifications and clearances were issued and properly acted upon,” said OUMWA Undersecretary Sarah Lou Y. Arriola.

“We also take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to all our partner agencies, especially the One Stop Shop for the Management of Returning Overseas Filipinos, or the OSS, in making all arrangements for this flight possible,” the Undersecretary added.

The newly arrived passengers are expected to undergo the latest quarantine protocols in place set by the IATF. END
