Secretary Locsin Discusses Ways Forward on ASEAN-EU and PH-EU Relations with EU High Representative Josep Borrell

UNITED KINGDOM, 14 December 2021 — Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and EU High Representative/Vice President Josep Borrell discussed regional and bilateral matters during their meeting on 12 December 2021 in Liverpool, UK.

The two officials talked about preparations for the ASEAN-EU commemorative summit in 2022 to mark the 45th anniversary of ASEAN-EU dialogue relations.

“We take our coordinatorship for the ASEAN-EU dialogue relations seriously. For the next three years, the Philippines will work with the EU and other ASEAN Member States under the theme “Building the Future Better” to push forward cooperative partnerships on issues of mutual concern,” Secretary Locsin conveyed to High Representative Borrell.

Opportunities to deepen Philippines-EU bilateral relations were likewise discussed in the areas of trade, maritime cooperation, and human rights. END
