DFA hosts exchange of Instruments of Ratification of PH-Qatar MOU on Health Cooperation

PASAY CITY, 21 December 2021 – The Department of Foreign Affairs hosted the ceremonial exchange of the Instruments of Ratification between the Department of Health (DOH) and the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Manila relative to the Philippines and Qatar Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Health Cooperation.

The ceremony was attended by DOH Assistant Secretary Kenneth G. Ronquillo and First Secretary Majid Mohammed M.A. Al-Jassim of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Manila. The event was witnessed by Deputy Assistant Secretary Shirlene C. Mananquil of the Office of Middle East and African Affairs . 

The MOU was signed in Doha on 16 April 2017 during the visit of the President as part of a three-leg trip to Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. It was then ratified by the President on 09 February 2018.

The MOU aims to enhance the partnership between the Philippines and Qatar in the field of health particularly in the areas of, but not limited to, medical research, disease prevention and control, application of new technologies, and medicine and medical equipment. END
