New Irish Ambassador pays call on Secretary Locsin

MANILA, 10 February 2022 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. met with H.E. William Carlos, Irish Ambassador to the Philippines on 10 February 2022 at the DFA.
Secretary Locsin welcomed Ambassador Carlos and assured him of the Department of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to work closely with the Irish Embassy in cultivating the growing relationship between the Philippines and Ireland.
Secretary Locsin expressed appreciation on having received Ireland’s notice on its accord in the mutual recognition of the two nations’ respective vaccination certificates. The Secretary also expressed gratitude for Ireland’s allocation i of Euros 250,000 towards the victims of super typhoon “Odette” that was provided by its Ministry of International Development and Diaspora.
For his part, Ambassador Carlos acknowledged and expressed high regard for the presence of hardworking Filipinos in Ireland.
On bilateral cooperation, among others, both officials agreed on expanding Philippine-Irish cooperation in the field of education noting how Ireland’s educational system has contributed to Ireland’s growth and development.
Secretary Locsin was joined by OEA Assistant Secretary Jaime Victor Ledda while Ambassador Carlos was joined by the Ireland Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Brian McCrohan. END
