Iranian Ambassador Tootoonchian Pays Courtesy Call on DFA Undersecretary Lazaro

PASAY CITY 31 May 2022 – DFA Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro received Iranian Ambassador to the Philippines Alireza Tootoonchian in a courtesy call at the DFA on 27 May 2022.

Undersecretary Lazaro and Ambassador Tootoonchian discussed opportunities for cooperation in science and technology, agriculture, tourism, consular, as well as in multilateral issues.

The Undersecretary also conveyed her appreciation for Iran’s assistance in facilitating the successful visit of senior officials from the Philippine Department of Science and Technology and experts from several Philippine universities to Iran in May 2022. The visit was in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Science and Technology Cooperation signed by the two countries in 2019.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Tootoonchian shared Iran’s interest in encouraging Iranians to visit the Philippines for tourism.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further bilateral relations between the Philippines and Iran. END
