Courtesy Call of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine on Foreign Affairs Secretary Locsin
PASAY CITY, 13 June 2022 – Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmytro Senik paid a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. on 09 June 2022 as part of the former’s Working Visit in Manila. The two diplomats discussed enhancing relations between the Philippines and Ukraine and fruitful cooperation in various fields of mutual interest, such as food and energy security.
With regard to the crisis in Ukraine, Deputy Foreign Minister Senik expressed his gratitude for the principled stand that the Philippines had undertaken on UN Resolutions on Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Secretary Locsin thanked Ukraine for helping facilitate the safe passage of Filipino nationals in Ukraine for their onward repatriation to the Philippines.
They also discussed the possible opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in Manila in the near future, while Secretary Locsin proposed that the Philippines should also open an Embassy in Kyiv. This year marks the 30th milestone anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Ukraine. The two countries formally established diplomatic relations on 07 April 1992. END
