DFA Hosts Economic Briefing for the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii

PASAY CITY 27 October 2022 — The Department of Foreign Affairs Office of International Economic Relations (DFA OIER) organized an economic briefing for the delegates of the 30th Goodwill and Trade Mission to the Philippines of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii (FCCH) on 24 October 2022 at the DFA Bulwagang Apolinario Mabini.

The briefing provided the delegates information on Philippine economic performance and prospects, trade and investment opportunities, the process for putting up a business in the country, as well as an overview of the Special Resident Retiree's Visa.

In her opening remarks, Assistant Secretary for International Economic Relations Gina Jamoralin encouraged the attendees to take advantage of the opportunities in the fast- growing Philippine economy. Meanwhile, Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Emil Fernandez noted that they, together with the FCCH, are committed to assist in the programs and priorities of the Marcos administration to achieve the country's development objectives.

The resource speakers of the economic briefing incIude Department of Finance (DOF) Assistant Secretary Eufrocinio Bernabe, Jr., Department of Trade and Investments - Board of Investment (DTI-BOI) Director Lanie Dormiendo, Department of Trade and Investment - Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) Assistant Director / Officer-in- Charge Bianca Pearl R. Sykimte, and Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) Manager Ms. Noehl D. Bautista.

On the same day, the 40-member delegation from Hawaii paid a courtesy call on President Ferdinand R. Marcos who shared the administration's policies and programs to accelerate the country’s economic recovery from the pandemic and spur the nation's economic growth and development. END
