DFA-OPCD among Apolitical's Global Public Service Team of the Year Finalists

MANILA 14 December 2022 – The Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy (DFA-OPCD) was recognized for its service to the global Filipino community by UK-based, government-centric social learning platform Apolitical, having been declared a Finalist for its Global Public Service Team of the Year Awards on 14 December 2022.

DFA-OPCD is in the running for the award under the “21st Century Problem-Solvers” category for innovation and adaptability in the face of unprecedented modern challenges. Apolitical cites DFA-OPCD’s work in “utilizing the Philippines’ high rates of social media use to provide Filipinos all over the world with official social media platforms and a website to quickly respond to the public’s constant demand for information on consular and assistance-to-nationals services.” The Office was also recognized for providing “updates on the political and economic aspects of the Department’s work and the status of the global Filipino community, as well as fostering a sense of community through virtual cultural shows and activities.”

The Global Public Service Team of the Year Award is Apolitical’s celebration of innovative Public Service and Government teams from around the world. DFA-OPCD was chosen out of hundreds of nominees along with Australia, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom for its category. This recognition proves that a small flexible and creative organization can compete with larger more well-funded entities in the new information environment.

Winners of the Global Public Service Team of the Year Awards will be selected via voting. Stakeholders, clients and partners can vote for DFA-OPCD through the following link: https://apolitical.co/pages/team-of-the-year-2022-21st-century-problem-solvers.
