Filipino High School Students Participate in 10th ASEAN Quiz Regional Competition 2022

PASAY CITY, 22 December 2022 - Three high school students from Sorsogon, Pasig, and Quirino virtually participated in the 10th ASEAN Quiz Regional Level which was held via hybrid format on 14 December 2022 at Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
The ASEAN Quiz is a project of the ASEAN Committee in Culture and Information (COCI) which aims to foster the spirit of healthy competition among ASEAN youth in a friendly quiz game format to cultivate friendship among the ASEAN youth, promote knowledge and understanding of the roles and functions of ASEAN, and raise ASEAN awareness among the general public.
Public and private secondary school students from all nine (9) ASEAN Member States (AMS), except Singapore, participated in the Quiz.
Due to health and safety concerns, the Philippines supported the conduct of the Quiz via hybrid format with the Philippine delegates participating virtually.
Based on scores, the Philippine Team ranked second among all the participants in the Quiz. However, due to the rules set by the Organizing Committee, remote participation is a non-awarding participant and not eligible for the official ranking.
The Philippine Team was composed of Amelia R. Persia of Donsol National Comprehensive High School in Region V, Brian James Cerdena of Pinagbuhatan High School in NCR, and Key B. Calpito of Cabarroguis National School of Arts and Trade in Region II. END
