Undersecretary Lazaro Calls on Kenyan Foreign Minister Mutua

NAIROBI 23 February 2023 – Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro met Dr. Alfred N. Mutua, Minister of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, on 21 February 2023 in Nairobi.

Undersecretary Lazaro thanked Foreign Minister Mutua for the close cooperation of the Kenyan government for the successful conclusion of the inaugural Philippines-Kenya Joint Commission on Bilateral Relations (JCBC). She also assured Foreign Minister Mutua of Philippine support in sharing experiences and best practices in diaspora management, including the promotion and protection of the welfare of nationals overseas.

Foreign Minister Mutua said that he wanted to encourage more growth in two-way tourism and business, including through greater people-to-people exchanges between Kenya and the Philippines.  

Both sides agreed to also promote high-level exchanges to deepen cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations even further.

Undersecretary Lazaro was joined by Philippine Ambassador to Kenya Marie Charlotte G. Tang, Assistant Secretary for Middle East and African Affairs Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, and other Philippine officials during the meeting. END
