2023 Secretary of Foreign Affairs Cup Invitational Golf Tournament Launched with Ayala Corporation

PASAY 16 March 2023 — The 2023 Secretary of Foreign Affairs Cup invitational golf tournament with the Ayala Corporation as title sponsor will be held at the Ayala Greenfields  Golf and Leisure Club in Calamba, Laguna on 26 June 2023, according to Ambassador Isaias Begonia, president of the Department of  Foreign Affairs Retired Personnel Association Incorporated (DFARFI), organizer of the tournament. The tournament is a fund-raiser for the health and wellness program of the foundation providing the DFA retired rank and file employees illness-preventive and health -maintenance  services and assistance in coping with heavy hospitalization expenses.

The 2023 tournament rides on the success of the previous three organized by DFARFI, the 2014 held in Wack-Wack, the 2017 held in Sta, Elena, and the 2020 held in the Ayala Greenfields. Like before DFARFI expects to gather 144 players from among Filipino active and retired diplomats, foreign ambassadors  and other members of the diplomatic and consular community of Manila, national and local government officials, retired generals and officers of the Armed Forces and the  National Police, as well as business and industrial leaders. 

Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo   has been invited to be the guest of honor and speaker as well as to award the SFA Cup and other prizes to the winners at the awarding ceremonies.

The DFARFI was founded in 2011 to fill the need of DFA retirees for health insurance benefits; they are cut off from the DFA global insurance plan when they retire and local insurance companies do not insure persons beyond retirement age.. The DFARFI set up a fund consisting of members’ annual contributions and contracted a reputable health insurance company to administer the fund and provide the members services normally expected of health insurance companies. DFARFI conducts fund-raising activities to supplement the annual contributions of members and ensure that the fund will always be sufficient to meet the covered expenses of the members.
